Tokenart NFT Licenses : Why NFT will change Creative IP world ?
The non-fungible token (NFT) is an immutable crypto asset able to identify digital creation and its ownership.
NFTs are more than a simple trend. This is the first time in history that we can create uniqueness over digital. After CryptoPunk, we see memes and tweets being traded for several thousand and the main question remain : But what am I buying when I buy a NFT ?
Lawyer answer is simple : You buy the Token identifying the creation but you do NOT buy the creation itself.
This create friction among creative. Creators want to give more than a simple Token and buyer want to have more.
So we created several Licenses adapted to the need of creators and collectors : Public, available, easy to use and to recognize.
The first license is a traditional one encoded TA-DI. TA-DI License allow what seems to be normal to do with a NFT :
- Prevent the mint of new NFT based on the same creation of the NFT bought
- Use its NFT to any plateforme, game, ecosystem, marketplace, wallet
- Certifying the paternity of the creation
- Use the creation identified by the NFT for personal uses
The second one encoded TA-CU lets you commercialize your NFT creation. Well, we that a lot of NFT owner would like to make business with the art they buy with the NFT but can’t. So now this is just possible to do so.
The third one encoded TA-M lets you modify your NFT creation.
Especially for creator who would like to mixe, modify or adapt a NFT to their creation. It would for instance allow a fan of a Mickey Mouse NFT to take it and to add his own draft or music or whatsoever since it is not unrespectful.
All these Licenses can be mixed (You can chose to offer the Modification + Commercial Use right over your Art like this TA-DI-CU-M)
Then we have another one called TA-RO for Royalties. We see some NFT in market propose to their owner a royalties over the revenue that a creation can generated but it was not so conform. A musician can now offer to his fan a percentage of all the royalties he has over one of his music.

Lastly we made two other License for Physical NFT and Fongible NFT.
Physical NFT encoded TA-PH allows you to sell Physical good through NFT. It represents the ownership over a physical good like physical artwork, wine, gold, jewelry etc.
Fongible NFT encoded TA-TO allows you to represent the ownership over a bunch of fongible tokens like ethereum, Uni, DAI etc. We make our own token with this system and we called it OKNA.
A new game area for every creators
Art, sculpture, film, music, patent, trademark, collectible, movies, avatar, design, code, invention, painting and lot of more are all the possibility behind those Licenses. Another way of sharing and monetize IP creation become possible. More and more type of NFTs will surface and so with creators. Inventors will be able to create new invention by using others, artist will be able to have money directly from their art and let someone else exploit and share their creation. Imagination is the limit.
So why do NFT will change the IP creative world ? What’s the difference with creative commons or something like that ?
Creative Common was created to solve the sharing digital goods problem. Copyright was not adapted to the way art was communicated on internet. When a digital good can be copy pasted thousand of times, copyright prevent from any kind of reproduction without the author permission. Then creative common born. But Blockchain create a new way of ownership : easy to conserve, easy to transfert but without the possibility to be duplicated. So we create Tokenart License to adapt blockchain ownership to copyright ownership.
